MARLBOROUGH CATALYST PLAN

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Catalyst Plan (2012) provided an actionable framework of strategies in the neighborhoods’ priority project areas:

  1. Organizational capacity building

  2. Revitalizing the commercial district

  3. Redeveloping a community hub of green workforce development

  4. Integrated green infrastructure projects

Door-to-door outreach and a focus on youth engagement and mentorship drew in energy, interest, and momentum to the neighborhood's planning process as well as additional commitments to the neighborhood association. The process created a new neighborhood task force in each project area to implement the plan. Much of the plan has been implemented and the Coalition's capacity to coordinate projects has resulted in increased funding and a new focus on community-managed redevelopment.
