KANSAS CITY TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT POLICY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The public engagement from the NextRail KC streetcar expansion plan process clarified the need for transit-supported neighborhoods and led to the creation and adoption (2017) of this guideline and policy document. The policy recommendations are framed with social and cultural goals, economic goals, and environmental goals. The recommendations are organized by the principles of Transit-Oriented Development: Connectivity, Density, Diversity, and Design. Each recommendation is categorized by the applicable development form: Nodes, Corridors, Neighborhoods, and Districts. This highly graphic publication provides a guide for our City’s decision-making in expanding a network of pedestrian-friendly vibrant places, suited to each community.
